Come show your Hawkeye Pride and celebrate the start of your first semester at the President's Block Party. Enjoy great food and entertainment by DJ Zato . Mix and mingle with your fellow classmates, University coaches and administrators, and President Sally Mason. We'll teach you the University of Iowa Fight Song with an appearance by the University of Iowa Spirit Squad and Members of the Hawkeye Marching Band. Kick off your first week of classes with fun entertainment, fantastic prizes and new friends.

GET HYPNOTIZED! VOLUNTEERS ARE THE STARS OF THE SHOW! 12-20 lucky volunteers will be selected to get hypnotized and become a part of the show. The hypnotic state creates a sense of heightened awareness that brings out the best in the volunteer performers. LAUGHTER AND FUN GUARANTEED! Hypnotized volunteers role-play in humorous comedy routines and have the time of their lives winning the lottery, acting out dream vacations, and more! The show combines audience participation, music, and the unpredictability of improvisational comedy! This is one everybody will be talking about.

Don’t twiddle your thumbs at home on a Friday night! Join your fellow students for the Late Night Event on Friday, August 28, 10pm-1am. Grab your friends and head to the IMU and Hubbard Park for slip and slides, volleyball, and a chance to learn all about the University of Iowa traditions. The spirit squad will be there to help you learn the fight song, game day and other Iowa traditions. Did I mention there will be free food? We will be serving pancakes starting at 10 pm. Also, do not miss your opportunity to take part in the first Midnight March. This is your chance to strut your Hawkeye spirit downtown Iowa City. This is a great way to wrap up the first week of the Fall 2009!
